Süderelbe Half Marathon: Over 1,400 runners start on Sunday!

On Sunday, November 9th, 2025, the 49th Süderelbe Half Marathon will take place in Hamburg - an event that attracts the running scene like a magnet. Over 1,400 registrations have already been received and the number is constantly increasing. The half marathon is organized by the Hausbruch-Neugrabener Turnerschaft (HNT), which is known for putting on such sporting highlights with a lot of commitment. The starting signal will be fired at 10 a.m. on the street “Am Johannisland” in front of the BGZ Süderelbe, where the runners will set off on the nerve-wracking route.

The route takes participants from the CU Arena in Neugraben to Neuenfelde and back. It runs along the streets Torfstecherweg, Neuwiedenthaler Straße, Francoper Straße, Hinterdeich, Hohenwischer Str., Vierzigstücken and Hasselwerder Str. to the turning point behind Organistenweg. However, there is important information for residents to note: From around 9:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m. the affected streets will be closed to through traffic, but one exception is residents' traffic, which remains possible.

Traffic restrictions and recommendations

Drivers in particular should avoid the event area, where the atmosphere is sure to get to overflowing, or remove their vehicles from the affected area well before the start. Neuwiedenthaler Straße will be closed on one side between the roundabout and the Francoper Straße intersection in the direction of Neugraben train station. Residents of the Vogelkamp development area have the opportunity to get to their residential areas via Neugrabener Allee, Königswiesen/Ackerweg or Am Aschenland/Geutensweg.
