Courage Tour in Hamburg: Understanding Narcissism – With Music and Exchange!
An exciting event is coming up that will address an important topic in Hamburg: narcissism and depression. The courage tour will take place on June 17, 2025 from 7 p.m. in the Bethanienkirche, Martinistrasse 45-49. This leg of the summer journey through Germany deals with the effects of narcissism and offers an open exchange about mental illness. According to the Eimsbütteler Nachrichten, speaker Turid Müller will start the evening with a reading, while the band “Me and the Lion” will provide musical entertainment and support the topic of mental health through their music.
The Courage Tour aims to promote exercise and community while at the same time raising awareness of the challenges faced by people with and without experiences of depression. The tour particularly aims to help reduce fear and shame when dealing with mental illnesses. The price for the event varies between 5 and 20 euros, depending on personal possibilities, so that everyone can take part.
A unique project
The courage tour, which started in Bochum on May 24th and ends in Rostock on September 6th, covers a total of 4,100 kilometers. The entire route is designed as a stage trip and includes 15 stages, each between five and eight days. These stages are open to participants both with and without experience of depression, relatives and interested parties - a setting that is intended to stimulate a broader discussion. Every path is suitable for everyone; Tandem teams cover around 55 kilometers a day, while hiking teams cover a good 15 kilometers. Overnight stays in tents and self-sufficiency naturally promote team spirit and togetherness.
In addition, action days with local partner organizations will take place along the route, aiming to draw attention to the topic of depression and thus promote understanding in society. Anyone who is still interested in taking part can register until April 20th, as on DAK Magazine is to be read.
Narcissism – a hidden shadow
A central theme of the event is the complex relationship between narcissism and depression. According to information from umgang-mit-narzissen.de Narcissists appear stable on the outside, but often hide a fragile self-esteem behind staged ideas of grandeur. These enactments always lead to crises, especially when confronted with loss or failure, which can lead to deep depressive states. Symptoms such as low mood, lack of interest and a feeling of inner emptiness are common companions of such crises.
The event in Hamburg is intended to help shed light on these often taboo topics in society in an accessible way and to promote dialogue. This event is a real starting point for anyone who wants to deal with the topic of narcissism and its effects on mental health.
