Subscription models in focus: How Hamburg companies have to fight!
There is currently a lot going on in Hamburg when it comes to the effects of increasing social contributions on local businesses. A baker from the city impressively demonstrated how these changes are affecting her business. Mirror reports her concern about the enormous additional costs resulting from the increase in social contributions. These not only put a strain on small craft businesses, but also influence prices for customers.
The baker, who offers regional specialties, has found that she is forced to increase her prices to cover the increased costs. “We have to be creative to stay in business,” she says, emphasizing that not only have raw material prices increased, but also wages, which ultimately depend on social security contributions.
A look at subscription models
At the same time, new trends in consumer behavior are emerging, which can also be observed in Hamburg. Subscription models are becoming increasingly popular. According to a study by Deloitte 45 percent of those surveyed said that financial benefits were the main reason for using these models. Subscriptions provide businesses with predictable revenue and closer customer loyalty, which can be beneficial in today's economic uncertainty.
What initially sounds like a comfortable purchase, however, also brings with it challenges. 46 percent of consumers see no added value in subscription models, and 21 percent fundamentally reject them. Especially among older customers (Baby Boomers), 39 percent avoid a subscription model. Providers therefore have to think carefully about how they design their offers in order to appeal to all target groups.
Advantages and challenges of subscription models
There are various AKO models, from flat-rate subscriptions like Spotify to payment models that are billed based on usage to e-commerce subscriptions like Amazon Prime. Xalot highlights that such models allow companies to develop more efficient monetization strategies. However, the high subscription churn rate also brings risks that cannot be ignored.
Looking ahead, further development of flexible subscription options and even the integration of cryptocurrencies could help increase consumer adoption. But companies also have to make sure that customers are attracted by attractive offers and exclusive content.
The baker from Hamburg is aware that it is important to keep an eye on both price adjustments and innovative sales strategies in order to survive in the face of strong competition. Balancing costs and customer satisfaction remains a major challenge, especially in turbulent economic waters. For many companies, not only their own existence but also the satisfaction of their customers are at stake.
