Convivial seniors' breakfast in Jülich: Experience enjoyment together!

In Jülich, a very special event is offered every week for our older citizens - the weekly seniors' breakfast in the Caritas day care St. Georg. Every Thursday and the first Saturday of the month, the facility is transformed into a place for sociability and encounters. From 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., participants enjoy a hearty breakfast in pleasant company for a small fee of 3 euros.

The offer is aimed at seniors in Jülich and not only offers the opportunity to exchange ideas over a meal, but also to make new social contacts. In addition to the delicious breakfast, irregular information on exciting topics is also provided. This creates an additional incentive to check back regularly.

A look at day care

Anyone who would like to get to know the modern day care facilities has the opportunity to do so. Access to the Caritas day care is via Münchener Straße and was designed specifically for the needs of older people. A specific goal of this initiative is to counteract loneliness and social isolation among older people. This effort is also reflected in the project “ Strengthening the participation of older people - against loneliness and social isolation", which was launched in collaboration with various institutions. As part of this project, measures are developed that expand the social participation of older people and strengthen financial security in old age.

The importance of such offers is also underlined by the experiences during the Corona pandemic, which increased unwanted loneliness. Access to social services and offers is of essential importance for many older people. The project sponsors are required to develop tailor-made resources in order to best promote the participation of older people.
