Vikings up close: Discover Hamburg’s spectacular VR exhibition!

Things are really exciting in Hamburg-Altona at the moment! The new exhibition “Vikings – Explorers and Conquerors” has been delighting visitors with a unique combination of information and entertainment since it opened on November 1st. The fascinating world of the Vikings comes to life on around 2,500 square meters, with their rites, symbols and stories. Curator Mitch Sebastian, known for his immersive exhibitions, has created a real experience that will captivate both young and old.

What is special about this exhibition? Visitors can look forward to an interactive experience that features large-scale projections, music and impressive animations. A highlight is the virtual reality trip, where up to 40 people can immerse themselves in the world of the Viking using VR glasses and experience a 360-degree film. Led by a little girl who grows into a powerful queen, the tour lasts about 90 minutes and passes through villages, gatherings, conquests and funeral rituals.

Women and their role in the Vikings

An extremely interesting topic in this exhibition is the role of women in the Viking world. Did you know that Scandinavian women were not only self-determined, but also had the right to divorce? This is highlighted by experts such as Professor Simek, who notes that many characters from the sagas, such as the central character Aslaug, probably did not even exist. Nevertheless, even without historical evidence, these stories are very relevant and contribute to the understanding of the Viking Age.

The exhibition aims to appeal to a younger audience and ingeniously combines education with pleasure. This makes learning easier and more entertaining, which is important not only in today's world, but also in the world of the Vikings.

Visit information

Anyone who is curious can visit the exhibition daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Regular admission prices are 23 euros, while on weekends a ticket is available for 28 euros.

So, pack your VR glasses and head to Hamburg, where history is anything but boring! For further information just take a look T Online or NDR over.
