Floodlight failure in Pinneberg: Dramatic abandonment of the game causes excitement!
An unexpected floodlight failure abruptly ended the district league game between VfL Pinneberg and FC Union Tornesch II last weekend. The game at Pinneberger Kampfbahn B was stopped in the 64th minute when the floodlights were switched off at 9 p.m. At this point, VfL Pinneberg was already leading 2-0, thanks to early goals from Tyler-Miguel Brose in the 6th minute and Yannick Rentzow in the 12th minute. Despite the deficit, the guests from Tornesch pushed for a goal in the second half, but were unable to do good business and remained goalless.
Local spectators suspected that a timer was responsible for the sudden light outage. VfL coach Martin Düsing tried to contact the groundskeeper to clarify the problem, but he was unwilling to come to the facility. Before the game, the kick-off time was set at 7:30 p.m. to keep an eye on possible interruptions and injury time. It is suspected that the timer was not changed to winter time accordingly. The Hamburg Football Association has announced that it will reschedule the game, although no exact date has yet been set, as SportNord reports.
Another incident in the district league
It wasn't just the floodlight failure that caused excitement in Hamburg football. In another game, namely between TSC Wellingsbüttel and Duvenstedter SV, there was a break at the same time when the score was 1:1 at halftime. The reason for this was a theft in the guests' cabin. Here the perpetrators stole cash, cell phones and car keys, and even though the vehicles were ransacked, they remained undamaged. The police were called due to the incident, which meant that the second half could no longer be kicked off.
TSC Wellingsbüttel expressed its concern on Instagram and made it clear that such an incident was unprecedented in the last 30 years. Duvenstedter SV praised the fair and respectful treatment of the hosts. The question of the future date for rescheduling the game remains open; the Hamburg Football Association could consider setting a new date for the beginning of 2025, as FuPa reports. It should also be noted that this was the second theft in just 24 hours in Hamburg football; Previously, a state league duel between Barsbütteler SV and HT 16 was canceled after the referee's cabin was broken into.
The situation is increasingly becoming a problem in the Hamburg football scene, affecting both clubs and fans. At a time when football is more of a community than ever, such incidents bring unrest and concern. A sustainable solution will require everyone involved to restore the safety and well-being of those involved.
