On September 21, 2025, a large-scale exercise by the volunteer fire department took place in Duvenstedt, which simulated the interaction between different emergency services. According to feuerwehr-hamburg.de, a fictitious traffic accident between a car and a tree was chosen as the scenario. The exercise illustrated the crucial cooperation between the Duvenstedt Volunteer Fire Department, the Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Hamburg and the Groß-Borstel Volunteer Fire Department.
During this exercise, three injured people had to be cared for, some of whom were seriously trapped. The alarm keyword “NOTFH” immediately caught the attention of the rescuers, who quickly upgraded with an operational keyword “THY”. A total of numerous vehicles were available: three ambulances, an emergency vehicle and two emergency fire engines (HLF) from Duvenstedt and Groß-Borstel. The operations manager and platoon leader of the FF Duvenstedt took over the coordination on site.
Exercise goals and thanks to those involved
The objectives of the exercise were varied: emergency medical care for injured people, patient-friendly rescue of those trapped and close cooperation between the fire department and rescue service were the focus of the exercise. The success of the joint efforts showed how important such exercises are for the emergency services in order to be well prepared in an emergency.
A big thank you goes to everyone involved who contributed to the success of this exercise with their commitment and professionalism. Such initiatives not only strengthen the population's trust in the local fire and rescue service, but also promote teamwork between the various organizations.
