Kirchdorf athletes sweat during the Ladagelauf in Wennigsen!

The 17th Wennigser evening run took place in Wennigsen on Saturday, June 14, 2025, in summer temperatures of over 30 degrees. Despite the heat, there were large numbers of Kirchdorf athletes at the start. Around 30 athletes took part in the various competitions and showed that they can work up a sweat under such conditions. The event began with the traditional Bambini run for kindergarten children, which took place over 600 meters at 5 p.m.

That afternoon, Annika Reichert managed to become the best Kirchdorfer in the Bambini Run, achieving an impressive 14th place among 135 children with a time of 3:13 minutes. The other participants included Jove, Mailo, Justus, Marieke, Elisa, Emil, Lene and Lina, who also gave their best.

Reasons to celebrate

The event also provided an excellent opportunity for primary school students to compete against their peers. In the elementary school students' run over 900 meters, Ida Schirm impressed with her 4th place out of 85 starters and a time of 4:07 minutes. This also secured her a podium place as third in the wU10. Greta Meeßen, Linda Reichert, Johanna Jank and Ida Kauth followed in the ranks and showed that the training of young athletes in the Kirchdorf ranks is bearing fruit.

Greta Meessen 7.
Linda Reichert 15.
Johanna Jank 35th in wU8
Ida Kauth 10.

But the Kirchdorf athletes were not only successful in the banana run. The elementary school run brought home several medals. Marlon Schulz, as the fastest in the 5.5 km student run, secured first place out of 67 starters with a time of 3:45 minutes.

Adults under pressure

Of course the adults were also there. In the 2.5 kilometer student race, Eleni Wallraven finished the run with a time of 13:25 minutes and came 5th in the wU12, while Theo Thomae finished 9th in his age group with a time of 12:42 minutes. Ex-coach Bjarne, now starting for Hannover 96, achieved a strong 3rd place with a time of 17:16 minutes in the MJU23.

Impressive performances were also shown on the distances of 5 and 10 kilometers. Thomas Jank came 3rd in the M40 class with 21:09 minutes over 5 kilometers, and Simon Gravina took 5th place in the M45 with 48:18 minutes over 10 kilometers.

The next event that is already in the starting blocks is the Ladagelauf for 2026, where the goal is to have more than 30 starters. Further information about events of this type can be found on the Edeka-Ladage website. It is also explained here that there are around 3,000 running events for children in Germany, which offer a wide variety of distances - from bambini runs to school and youth competitions.

If you look at the wide range of children's running competitions, ranging from small local to large, attractive marathons, it is clear that the enthusiasm for running among the youngest is unbroken. This atmosphere, coupled with the sporting highlights of the event, makes the Ladage run a great experience for the people of Kirchdorf and all participants.
