New Year's Eve in Hamburg: Mega show with top stars and spectacular fireworks!
A new New Year's Eve hotspot in Hamburg! December 31, 2025 will be dedicated to a special event that has never taken place in the Hanseatic city before. ZDF brings its popular New Year's Eve party from Hamburg for the first time and allows the city's cultural scene to flourish. Under the title “New Year's Eve in Concert” there will be a brilliant celebration atmosphere today from 8:15 p.m. at the Westfield Center in Hafencity.
The event will feature a fantastic program: the live acts include big names such as Johannes Oerding, Michael Patrick Kelly and Kerstin Ott. Bands and artists like Blue, Wanda, Das Bo, DJ Felix Jaehn, and Jenny from Ace of Base also ensure that the atmosphere is at its peak until midnight. The spectacle will be moderated by Andrea Kiewel and Johannes B. Kerner, who will guide the audience through the evening.
Event details
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the first visitors can look forward to a varied culinary offering. From Mexican to Asian cuisine, from currywurst to burgers to vegetarian and vegan options, there is something for every taste. You can pay on site in cash or by card; However, your own food and drinks are not permitted. The security measures have been adapted not only to the event itself, but also to the Corona regulations: crash barriers and additional security personnel are available to protect the around 12,000 expected guests. Spectators are asked to avoid large bags, umbrellas and pyrotechnic items.
The program is also supplemented by live broadcasts to various locations in Hamburg, including the Reeperbahn and the Landungsbrücken. The highlight of the evening will, as always, be a fireworks display at midnight over the Elbe, although with a duration of four minutes it will be a little more modest than the one in Berlin, which lasts eight minutes.
Visitor information and weather conditions
The weather forecast for this evening shows stormy winds and freezing temperatures, but the organizer has given the all-clear. The exciting challenge will be to dress for the weather, as the New Year's Eve party is an open-air event without roofs. When arriving, it is strongly recommended to use public transport. The event ticket is also valid as an HVV ticket, and the nearest stop is “Überseequartier” (U-Bahn U4). Alternatively, there are parking options in the “Westfield” car park with 2,000 spaces, but these charge fees of 3.00 to 3.50 euros per hour.
Regardless of the safety and the weather, the event is still criticized. In the city committee of the Mitte district assembly, accusations of being taken by surprise were voiced, which suggests that the planning was not well received by everyone. Nevertheless, the Hanseatic city is optimistic about the evening. The city of Hamburg supported the organizer with 400,000 euros for the rights to use the TV images, but no state subsidies were provided. Financing comes from ticket revenue, sponsorship and catering.
Overall, today's event shows how Hamburg not only brings a breath of fresh air to New Year's Eve, but is also becoming increasingly important as a cultural center. As they say: “There’s something going on” in the port city. With a mix of tradition and modern entertainment, Hamburg will make the start of the new year unforgettable.
