Back in court: Osdorferin ignores ban and injects lips!

Today, June 17, 2025, a 27-year-old woman from Osdorf is again standing before the Hamburg district court. She is accused of continuing to carry out illegal lip injections even though she was sentenced to a suspended sentence by a district court in Altona in 2023. The judge warned her urgently that if she committed another violation, she could face imprisonment. However, this warning did not seem to be fruitful, as the woman continued to operate her salon in Ottensen and treated at least two customers with hyaluronic acid, even though she had no professional training for it. As NDR reports, she has been in custody since March 2025. The public prosecutor is now demanding a prison sentence of four years.

In the courtroom, the defendant confessed that she had lived in an “Instagram and TikTok beauty world” and expressed her desire to reorient herself professionally. It is currently uncertain whether and when she will be released again. The judge in the criminal chamber considers a suspended sentence to be unlikely given the repeated violations.

Illegal treatment methods in trend

However, the issue doesn't just have this accused woman in the firing line. The use of hyaluronic acid preparations is booming and, to the concern of many, these do not require a prescription and can be easily ordered online. The Juvederm products from Allergan are particularly popular. But Allergan makes it clear that these fillers may only be used by professionally qualified doctors. Unfortunately, dubious providers have also made it a habit to purchase such products through wholesalers, as Beautybloggerin notes.

The increase in counterfeits of these products on the German market is also worrying. Allergan is closely monitoring the situation and advises customers to only obtain these fillers through authorized channels to ensure the safety of treatments.

Legal situation and safety of treatments

Another focus is on the legal situation regarding the advertising of cosmetic procedures. A recent ruling banned the use of before and after images when advertising hyaluronic acid treatments. This is done to protect consumers from unrealistic expectations and possible health risks that can result from improper treatments, as Spiegel reports.

The ongoing legal problems and the black market for cosmetic procedures make it clear that there is an urgent need for action. While cosmetic treatments remain popular, it is clear that the education and regulation of the market still needs greater scope.
