New residential area in Osdorf: Citizen participation will start soon!

An exciting project is currently being set up in Osdorf, a charming district in the Altona district. The new one Osdorf 50 development planis taking shape and promises a breath of fresh air for the region. The Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg (FHH) is planning to develop a new residential area on a site of around 35,000 m², which is bordered by Blomkamp Street to the south and Rugenbarg Street to the north. The properties currently belong to the Federal Real Estate Agency (BImA) and are to be redesigned in close collaboration with various institutions to create living space and social infrastructure.

The discussion about this development is already underway. At the end of May 2024, the city planning committee gave the green light to initiate the process for drawing up the development plan. A workshop process is planned between 2025 and 2026, in which citizens will be actively involved in the planning process. An important part of this citizen participation is to motivate residents to contribute their ideas and wishes. The exact dates and locations for the workshops will be announced later.

Public plan discussion

A public plan discussion on development planning and changes to the land use plan and the landscape program is planned for 2026. The whole thing is being done as part of a comprehensive environmental assessment that ensures that the new plan is sustainable and environmentally friendly. The Altona district office would also like to conclude an urban development contract with the BImA to develop the residential area.

The development of the planning area is designated as a common use area, with the aim of designing it as a residential area to create attractive living space. The background to the development is also an agreement between various interested parties, including the Federal Ministry of Defense and the BImA, who are committed to the goal of making sensible use of the peripheral areas of the existing barracks.
