Dangerous streets in Hamburg: Cyclists: Inside and pedestrians: In the inside in danger!

Altona, Deutschland - In Hamburg, safety in cycling is increasingly becoming the topic. Numerous cyclists: Inside, the traffic rules do not always adhere to the inside. For example, it often happens that you drive on sidewalks or rush past at red traffic lights. Not only the cyclists themselves make mistakes - also pedestrians: interior and drivers: inside contribute to uncertainty in road traffic. This often leads to ultimately dangerous situations that are urgently needed to defuse. The Hamburger news platform mopo.de informs that two universities, the University of Freiburg and the Bundeswehr University in Munich, have recently initiated an online survey. This aims to find out the causes of the numerous violations of the rules in cycling.

In June, a new website called regionalverstoesse.de was published, via which regular violations in road traffic can be reported throughout Germany. A particularly large number of entries from Hamburg come from the densely built -up districts of Altona and Ottensen, where the use of bicycles is widespread. Several problematic areas are recorded on the interactive map of the website, including the Hohenzollernring, especially at the confluence with Bernadottestrasse and the Bleickenallee. The reports include risky overtaking maneuvers, cyclists: inside on sidewalks and disregarded ancestors.

initiatives for more security

In this sense, the Altona district office intends to further develop the cycling concept and actively involve the citizens: inside. They had the opportunity to contribute suggestions and ideas to promote cycling from June 15 to July 10. The feedback has been carefully evaluated and are now available, as reported on the website of the hamburg.de.

But why is it all so important? The German Road Safety Council e.V. emphasizes the urgency: Statistics show that the number of cyclists killed has remained constant since 2010. Every eighth traffic fat and every fifth injured is a cyclist. Many accidents are particularly common in the inner -city area. The high proportion of cyclists in these tragedies is alarming. Inadequate infrastructure is often a reason for accidents, especially at intersections and junctions. It is urgently needed here to make cycling more secure in Hamburg, according to the DVR.

public measures asked

In order to improve safety in cycling, not only structural measures are necessary, but also education and training of road users: inside. The German traffic safety council recommends, for example, targeted campaigns and the punishment of traffic violations. In addition, the discussion about a helmet carrier obligation for cyclists could set new impulses. A uniform set of rules could help to improve the visibility between cyclists and other road users and create clear conditions.

The solution is to get everyone involved on board and to redesign the street spaces so that they are safer for all road users: inside. This is the only way to become a real bicycle city in which both cyclists: inside and pedestrians: inside and drivers: can be relaxed on the inside.
