Polène opens first boutique in Hamburg: luxury moves in!
In late summer 2025, Polène, the French luxury leather goods brand, will open its first boutique in Germany, on the posh shopping street at Neuen Wall 71 in Hamburg. This expansion marks a strategic step for the family business founded in 2016 by the Mothay brothers and their sister, which is particularly known for its minimalist, high-quality leather bags. Loud Fashion Network Germany is an important market for Polène, which is coming into focus primarily due to sales figures of 143 million euros so far in 2023 and a growing presence in stationary retail.
The Hamburg boutique will open among other luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Hermès and Chanel, not only underlining the location's appeal but also indicating that the company sees growth potential in a still fragmented German luxury goods market, which is expected to grow at a CAGR of 7.9% through 2027, according to a study by Mordor Intelligence shows.
Growth and investments
Polène has steadily established itself in the premium segment since its founding nine years ago and is now planning to build a local team in Hamburg that includes sales, warehouse logistics and store management. The larger brand LVMH is also interested in Polène and invested through the L Catterton fund to support strategic expansion and strengthen Polène's position in the luxury segment. Loud SAC x AMI Polène can now draw on LVMH's expertise, which should further support the company's international presence.
The decision to expand in Germany is also part of a broader strategy that allows the brand to succeed in cities such as Paris, New York, Tokyo and Seoul. The Hamburg boutique is expected to follow a similar design concept to the existing stores in these metropolises, indicating a clear brand identity.
Products and crafts
Polène's range consists of timeless designs, including bags, small leather goods and jewelery collections inspired by her best-selling models such as 'Numéro Un' and 'Numéro Sept'. The products are made by around 800 artisans in Ubrique, Spain, and vary in price from around 60 euros for card cases to up to 880 euros for exquisite nappa calfskin bags.
With the upcoming opening in Hamburg and the clear focus on high-quality and sustainable products, Polène will certainly open an exciting chapter in the German luxury goods market. The people of Hamburg will soon have the opportunity to enjoy these elegant designs - a real win for the Hanseatic city!
