Frost warning in Weimarer Land – How to protect your plants!
Weather warnings seem to be in the air! Today, November 6th, 2025, the German Weather Service (DWD) announces the good news of a frost warning for the Weimarer Land. The forecasts seem a bit frosty, as temperatures of around -1 °C are expected in valleys and hollows between 1:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. The warning not only applies to the city of Weimar, but also extends to neighboring communities such as Bad Berka, Apolda and many more. If you are not careful, you could have to protect your plants from the first frost damage, because as the DWD recommends, frost protection measures should be taken.
The affected communities are numerous and appear to be preparing for a cold night. The places that are particularly affected include:
- Am Ettersberg
- Blankenhain
- Bad Sulza
- Kranichfeld
- Neumark

It's similarly frosty in Bavaria. There, the DWD warns of temperatures of up to -3 °C on the edge of the Alps in the nighttime hours from Monday to Tuesday, while values of around -1 °C are expected in the lowlands. The frost warning extends across all of southern Bavaria and most of Franconia. Numerous districts such as Ansbach and Passau are particularly affected, and as in Weimar, the DWD in Bavaria also recommends handling plants and water pipes carefully.
The list of districts in Bavaria that should remain vigilant is long. Among others, the following areas are required:
- Niederbayern: Deggendorf, Dingolfing-Landau
- Obbayern: München, Garmisch-Partenkirchen
- Mittelfranken: Roth, Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen
