Annual review 2025: Job starts major future projects!

An exciting year 2025 is coming to an end! Mayor Robert Isernhagen draws a positive conclusion about the developments in the municipality of Stelle. The start of the “Stelle 2035” project marks a pioneering step towards making the community more livable and lovable. In this context, the update of the land use plan is being tackled, which defines essential areas for residential, commercial, as well as agriculture and forestry, and the quality of stay in public spaces is significantly improved through more greenery, shade and relaxation areas. In addition, mobility traffic will be optimized so that residents will be able to access the traffic routes even better in the future.

Particularly noteworthy are the modernization measures at Steller train station and the complete renovation of Uhlenhorst Street, which have now been completed. The completion of the roads in the new Grasweg-West development area is also a positive signal to everyone who is interested in a new home in Stelle. Traffic control by closing the Steller Chaussee railway bridge was well received and residents have adapted to it. What also ensures a good atmosphere are the successful construction measures in the areas of school, leisure and family.

School and social improvements

A look at the Ashausen primary school reveals progress: the cafeteria has been expanded by 32 places to a total of 80 and an extension for all-day schooling is in progress. The entrance area of the Steller outdoor pool was also rebuilt and an electronic cash register system was installed to make access easier for visitors. The community also contributes to strengthening local sports and cultural clubs through financial support, another sign of the vibrant community life in Stelle.

In addition, the expansion of broadband coverage in Ashausen and Stelle was successfully completed, even if some problems in the coverage between Achterdeich and Elbe remain. In the future, municipal heat planning will show where central and decentralized energy supply areas should be created. The plans for the new construction of the Achterdeich, which will begin in 2028, take flood protection into account.

Public participation and participation

Just in time for the review of 2025, an information evening was also held as part of the “Klönschnack” discussion series. On September 11th, at Ashäuser Hof, citizens were actively involved in the discussion about the new 2035 land use plan. Topics included urban development in the next decade and the influence of the population on new residential and commercial areas. The event was moderated by Dr. Kathleen Schwerdtner-Máñez, Green Party councilor and chairwoman of the Environment Committee, who presented the contents of the plan together with Lothar Steffen, Green Party councillor.

In a larger context, this is part of a trend where cities are developing comprehensive participation strategies to focus the voices of their citizens and enable influence on municipal development. The German Institute for Standardization (Difu) has developed interesting insights into this, which are important in addition to the plans in place. The aim of these strategies is to create a lively culture of participation and to involve citizens more actively in shaping their community, which no one in the community will leave unscathed.

Voluntary commitments continue to flourish and are strong: working groups for older citizens, a newly elected youth parliament and a repair café in the Steller DRK house, which meets on the last Saturday of the month, are just a few examples. The local fire departments, with their strong youth work, also make an important contribution to the community constitution. A big thank you to everyone involved for their tireless efforts in 2025, which will benefit everyone in the community and lay the foundations for the future.
