Free children's university in Hamburg: Experience science live!

The University of Hamburg has big plans for next November. In cooperation with ETV Children and Youth Support, it invites all inquisitive kids between the ages of eight and twelve to an exciting series of lectures in the university's largest lecture hall, the Audimax. Eimsbütteler Nachrichten reports that the first lecture will take place on November 10th and will have the exciting topic “What is the Big Bang?” stands. Here, young listeners can expect an exciting explanation of one of the biggest mysteries in astrophysics.

The next topics are equally compelling. On November 17th we'll go deeper: "What's hidden beneath the seabed?" and a week later, on November 24th, it explores “why spiders are important.” To conclude the series, in the final lecture on December 1st, children will be asked to reflect on an important topic: “How can we live more sustainably?” It promises to be a wonderful opportunity to get children excited about science and show them how exciting research can be.

How does participation work?

The lectures begin at 5 p.m. and last one hour, including an interactive question and answer session. Registration is not required, but children should be accompanied by an adult. For little explorers who want to visit the entire series, there is a special stamp card available in the foyer of the Audimax. The children can collect a stamp for each visit and after three stamps a surprise awaits them on December 1st. This not only rewards learning, but also promotes motivation to find out more about the exciting topics.
