Literary bike tour Pedal and Poetry” in Hildesheimer Land on June 29th!
Something is happening in Hildesheimer Land! A very special event is planned for Sunday, June 29th: “Pedal and Poetry” – a bicycle reading that appeals to literature lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. Loud Hildesheim press Participants can count on texts from creative minds from the region that were created at workshops in Hildesheim, Barienrode and Itzum.
In a relaxed atmosphere, the literary vein comes straight to the street. The readings are offered in the open air and food is even provided. Anyone who would like to take part in the tour can either travel from one reading to the next in a group or make their own way to the venues.
Readings and times
The individual readings take place at different locations:
- 12 Uhr: Gemeindehaus der Hildesheimer Markusgemeinde, Ulmenweg 11a
- 14.30 Uhr: Gemeindehaus der Titusgemeinde, Barienrode, Nikolausstraße 1
- 16.30 Uhr: Gemeindehaus der Katharina-von-Bora-Gemeinde, Itzum, St.-Georg-Straße 13

Diverse literary events at a glance
But that's not all the region has to offer this summer! Another highlight is a series of topics about sleep in literature. Loud KK-HS Three German-speaking authors present their view of this human right, which is often neglected these days. Among the works are:
- Tamar Noort – „Der Schlaf der anderen“: Zwei Frauen mit Schlafproblemen näher kennenlernen.
- Urs Faes – „Sommerschatten“: Ein Mann reflektiert über seine Lebensgefährtin im Koma.
- Selma Kay Matter – „Muskeln aus Plastik“: Thematisiert körperliche und gesellschaftliche Wahrnehmungen.
The event not only promises exciting insights, but will also be moderated by Andrea Schwyzer and broadcast on NDR Kultur. You are asked to wear an FFP-2 mask to ensure everyone's safety.
If you want to immerse yourself even more in the world of literature, you shouldn't miss the Literary Society's events. This offers an exciting program in 2025, which begins with a reading by Steve Ayan and extends into the summer. The highlights include readings about Goethe, Klaus Mann and even insights into the press and media landscape, such as literary.de communicates.
Hamburg's literary offerings are definitely 'highly popular' and offer something for every taste - whether it's a leisurely bike ride or a more dignified read aloud in the district.
