Badbergen mourns Pastor Bernhard Bauch: A life for the community
In Badbergen and beyond, people mourn Pastor Bernhard Bauch, who died in Quakenbrück on August 7, 2023 at the age of 87. His life path took him from Halle/Saale via Celle and Fürstenau to the St. George community in Badbergen, where he worked as a pastor, community leader and pastor for 33 years. His work left a deep mark on the community and beyond. noz.de reports that he was born in Halle/Saale in 1937 and baptized in the Marktkirche. The course for his path was set in Celle in 1966 when he was accepted into the ranks of the ordained.
His induction into his royal office took place in 1968, during the Thanksgiving holiday, and since then he has been tirelessly there for the community. A special chapter in his career was his collaboration with Pastor Werner Guhl-Krafft for over 15 years. After retiring in August 2022, Pastor Bauch spent his twilight years in the former rectory in Badbergen, where he remained active and organized nativity plays and devotions in the old people's room.
A life for the community
During his time as a pastor, he was not only responsible for the spiritual support of the parishioners. He was also the founder of the Badbergen village helper station and its chairman for many years. He also founded the recorder choir and an instrumental group. The premiere of his own compositions by a project orchestra in St. George's Church in 2023 represented a crowning highlight in his artistic work.
His social commitment was also evident in the organization of aid transports to Kosovo, Estonia and the partner community of Königswartha in Saxony. Pastor Bauch was also known for his active nature, often traveling around Badbergen as a “cycling original”. He will be buried in a requiem at 11 a.m. in St. Georg Badbergen on August 30, 2023. At this point he would have celebrated his 88th birthday.
Cohesion and values
The St. George community is looking forward to an important annual motto in 2025: “But test everything, keep the good!” This invitation from the Apostle Paul's first letter to the Thessalonians invites us to actively look at life and carefully examine what really matters. stgeorgbadbergen.de describes the importance of not making decisions passively, but rather courageously pursuing the good, supporting the weak and avoiding evil.
With a clear focus on community and support, we look forward. The overarching goal is to promote a good life in the community and to offer everyone the opportunity to participate in this positive togetherness. In this way, Pastor Bernhard Bauch's legacy remains alive - a guide for everyone who works together in the St. George community.
