New live club BETTY on St. Pauli: A musical revolution awaits you!

St. Pauli is experiencing an exciting comeback in the club scene: from September 2025, the newest live club BETTY will open its doors in place of the closed headCRASH. After 17 years of existence, headCRASH had to close on January 1, 2025, a move that saddened both music lovers and operators. The decision to sell was made at the end of 2024 for personal reasons. In the past, the old club was very popular with a colorful program of rock, indie and metal concerts as well as lively karaoke evenings. But now it's time for a breath of fresh air.

BETTY's concept is to offer a wider range of music genres. In addition to big names like Kettcar, Madsen and Olli Schulz, there will be room for many new talents. With two stages, one on the ground floor for young artists – the so-called “Newcomer Stage” – and a second floor for established bands, a wide range of music genres are covered. The Hamburg citizens have announced that they will support the renovation of the club with 171,000 euros from the Hamburg 2030 renovation fund. The funds are mainly used for sound insulation as well as sound and lighting technology, which makes attending the concert even more pleasant for the guests. A vote on the motion will take place on September 10, 2025.

A sign of tolerance

The name BETTY is a loving homage to Betty Heine, the wife of the banker Salomon Heine. With this name, the management wants to send a signal for tolerance and openness - especially in a city like Hamburg, which is known for its cultural diversity. The newcomer will probably be an important building block, especially in the lively club scene, which is the second largest in Germany after Berlin. With around a dozen house and electro clubs as well as a strongly rooted rock and indie live music scene, Hamburg offers a colorful palette for every kind of music lover.

The location of the new club remains the old headCRASH, at Hamburger Berg 13 in 20359 Hamburg. Even though the face of the club will change, the operators promise that the old spirit will be retained. Hamburg's clubs, from the legendary Prinzenbar to smaller indie shops like Gruenspan or Molotow, have always radiated a special magic. If you enter the new BETTY, you will certainly quickly feel at home.

The challenges of the club scene

In recent years, Hamburg's club scene has been confronted with various challenges - rising costs, conflicts with local residents and the closure of popular clubs such as PAL and Klingel Drei. BETTY is therefore seen as an important signal to give the local and emerging music scene new tailwind. The city of Hamburg, with its special mix of indie heroes and electronic beats, remains an indispensable meeting place for all music lovers. From techno clubs like Uebel & Gefährlich to the small but fine night shifts in clubs like the Golden Pudel, there is something for every taste here.

Well, are we excited to see what BETTY will offer us? One thing is certain: Hamburg's club scene remains exciting and diverse!
