Matjes party in Blankenese: A festival for fish lovers and neighbors!
Blankenese, Deutschland - In Blankenese, the Matjespart was recently celebrated, a culinary highlight that caused a sensation in the heart of the district. On Wednesday, June 25th, numerous guests gathered in the Klönschnack passage at the Elbchaussee to enjoy the delicious herring in its various variants. Organizer Klaus Schümann and his team had done the best preparatory work because the event attracted both the local population as well as representatives from business and the media. A convivial evening under Hanseatic-hearted signs.
The culinary focus was on Matjes, which was served in a wide variety of preparations. The provider, the Blankeneser Fischhuus, presented variants such as the classic matjes with housewife sauce, interpreted in dillmarinade and modern, accompanied by fried and jacket potatoes. For those who are not fish lovers, there was roast beef from the Klövensteen riding stable. Accompanying this, a fine selection of drinks was offered, from freshly tapped beer to exquisite wines and non -alcoholic long drinks. Even fresh coffee from the EsSpressobil was not missing.
a successful festival and views of the future
like the blankenese.de , this festival was particularly welcome for many to come back together after the pandemic. The mood was exuberant and the weather played perfectly - sunny and a bit windy, ideal for a sociable evening outdoors. The musical interludes, including accordionist Jens-Peter Geuther, provided variety and encouraged the visitors to sing along and dance. A special highlight was a 93-year-old Blankenese who swung her dance leg with her rollator and encouraged others to participate with her joy of life.
The mini-matjes festival on Martini forecourt, which took place on June 18, was also a complete success. Despite the cancellation of the originally planned large matjest days on the market square, the event attracted many visitors who enjoyed the various matjes specialties at the Fischhuus stand. Board of Directors Oliver Diezmann from the Blankeneser interest community found that it was a first opportunity for the community to celebrate together after the Lockdowns.
A look over the national border
The joy of matjes also runs beyond Hamburg. The 57th Glückstadt Matjeswoche took place in Glückstadt from June 13th to 16th, which celebrated the opening of the matjess season. The marketplace and downtown turned into a festival mile with live music, culinary delights and a colorful program for the whole family. Here the herring is also offered in different variations, interpreted from traditional to modern.
The matjes party in Blankenese, which was supported by sponsors such as Bentley Hamburg and Kamps in Hamburg GmbH, is not only a gastronomic pleasure, but also an important social meeting point for Hamburg and their neighbors. A big thank you goes to everyone involved, especially the Blankeneser Fischhuus and the Klövensteen riding stable. The anticipation for further events, including the next year’s festivities, is already increasing.
