The exhibition runs until August 19, and the opening times are family -friendly: Monday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and on Fridays and on vacation from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The church is also open every day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., so everyone has the opportunity to see the impressive works.
memories of Otto Wild
Erika Wild, the daughter of the artist, gave exciting insights into the life of her father in an interview with Kloenschnack . Her childhood as an artist's daughter was anything but usual. Often she accompanied her father to the easel, but was not allowed to paint herself. However, this restriction led her on her own creative way - after her father's death, she started working carefully with chalks and developed her own abstract style.
Otto Wild is primarily valued as an open -air painter and found inspiration for his impressionist style in the Hague School. Despite his creative talents, he had difficulty selling his works. However, he achieved the big breakthrough with his impressive Hamburg port pictures, which were estimated by Hanseatic merchants, shipping companies and bankers. Unfortunately, he died in poverty, which does not harm the image of his life. Erika describes her father as a happy person who saw the world optimistic, even if there was poverty around her.
cultural events and tours
The vernissage not only promises great art experience, but also a cultural event! The introduction is taken over by Carlfried Osenegg, a collector and native of Hamburg, who had a personal connection to Otto Wild. Musically, Hauke Ströh's opening is accompanied on the piano. Interesting tours with collectors Osenegg are planned for July 19 at 3 p.m. and on July 24th at 10 a.m. Here visitors can immerse themselves in the maritime art of game and learn more about its techniques.
For everyone who is interested in impressionism, this exhibition is also an excellent opportunity to learn more about Otto Wild's influence and his time in Hamburg. His pictures, which show Alster, Nikolaifleet, Kehrwiederpitze and the harbor, are an impressive testimony to city history and artistic work in the first half of the 20th century.
Last but not least, the exhibition is initiated by the Evangelical Community Academy Blankenese and the Blankeneser interest community e.V., which underlines the importance of this cultural event. A real highlight for all those interested in art in Hamburg!
