Wandsbek celebrates volunteering: the exhibition shows ways to commit!

Charlottenburger Straße 1, 22045 Hamburg, Deutschland - In Wandsbek, voluntary commitment is a fixture in social life. The most populous district of Hamburg is shaped by the commitment of its citizens. This can also be seen in the upcoming hiking exhibition "Wandsbek is committed", which takes place in the Jenfeld house from July 11 to September 21, 2025. This exhibition is a joint project of the Wandsbek district office and the Aktivoli volunteer center and fulfills an important purpose: it makes the voluntary commitment in Wandsbek more visible and promotes social cohesion.

On a total of 20 information boards, institutions and initiatives are presented that show opportunities for meaningful commitment. The aim of the exhibition is to promote the trust in promoting solidarity, initiative and responsibility among the Wandsbekers. It is aimed not only at people who are already committed, but also to those who are interested in voluntary work and are looking for information about various commitment options.

The exhibition in detail

The exhibition "Wandsbek is committed" is part of a larger Hamburg project that extends and supports over five districts by various volunteer agencies. Thanks to this initiative, over 200,000 volunteers can continue to contribute to strengthening social cohesion in their city. The opening times of the exhibition in the Jenfeld house are Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Fridays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Access to the exhibition area is barrier -free, so everyone has the opportunity to find out and inspire themselves.

The Aktivoli volunteer agency is also highlighted in the exhibition as a point of contact. It helps people who have a good knack for volunteer work in making contact with the right facilities. The event is not only an opportunity to find out about current commitment options, but also a place to make new acquaintances and form networks.

A look at the future of commitment culture

Voluntary commitment in Hamburg is an important part of social life. With the project "People strengthen people", led by Minister Lisa Paus, another impulse in the areas of participation, democracy promotion and education is set. The Engagement in Wandsbek, as in other parts of the city, is continuously promoted and strengthened. These initiatives are proof that many Hamburgers are committed to their fellow citizens with great enthusiasm and thus create a valuable network.
