Nationwide raid: young people arrested in Hamburg for Islamism!

In a large-scale operation, investigators searched apartments in Hamburg and eleven other federal states on November 13, 2025. The action was directed against teenagers and young adults who are suspected of spreading Islamist content over the Internet. The raid is part of a coordinated effort that included more than 50 searches and was carried out in close cooperation with law enforcement authorities in Austria and Switzerland. The Mopo reports that this operation also questioned a large number of suspects.

In Hamburg, the searches focused on several apartments. Search warrants were executed against three men aged 16, 18 and 24. Two of these apartments are in Eidelstedt, the third in Jenfeld. During the operations, the authorities seized data carriers that were intended to serve as evidence. The investigators' focus was on the spread of Islamist propaganda, which is problematic for the radicalization of young people.

Background of the operation

The comprehensive operation in Germany, which took place on Thursday, was supported by the findings of the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) and the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. These two institutions work together in a joint internet center to filter radical Islamic and Islamist content on a daily basis. Religious chants and propaganda videos are also checked for criminal content. As stern.de explains, the online distribution of such content is crucial for the radicalization of young people.

In total, more than a hundred police measures were taken in Germany that day. The searches took place in all federal states with the exception of Saxony-Anhalt, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The structures targeted here provided a platform for the spread of extremist ideologies.

International dimension

Interestingly, similar measures also took place in Austria and Switzerland at the same time. Cross-border cooperation between law enforcement authorities shows that the problem of Islamist propaganda does not stop at national borders. The authority consistently pursues the goal of nipping extremism in the bud and ensuring the safety of the population.

The operations in Hamburg are therefore not only of local importance, but are part of a larger nationwide and international approach to extremist tendencies. It remains to be seen what further measures will be taken on the Internet and in real life to counteract such dangers.
