Rotary clubs in Hamburg are holding waffle sales from November 28th to December 6th to support the Johanniter Christmas Trucker campaign.
Waffle fun for a good cause: aid packages for those in need!
The smell of freshly baked waffles attracts many passers-by in Hamburg's Europa Passage from November 28th to December 6th. During this time there is a waffle sale that not only promises culinary delights, but also supports a good cause. With this campaign, the Rotary Clubs in Hamburg are actively supporting the Johanniter Christmas Truckers, who help people in need in Southeast Europe and Germany. The proceeds from the sale of waffles go directly to the Christmas truckers, who put together urgently needed aid packages. These are aimed at low-income families, children in schools and daycare centers, people with disabilities as well as senior citizens' and children's homes in order to improve their living conditions. Hamburg scene reports on the participants' motivation to do good and at the same time offer a special treat.
The organization in the background is the joint commitment of the Rotary Clubs Hamburg-International, Maritime Motion, Winterhude as well as the Rotaract Clubs Hamburg-Alstertal and Hamburg-International. These organizations not only promote the local common good, but also set an example of humanity and solidarity, especially during the contemplative Christmas season. The packaging and distribution of the aid packages is coordinated in collaboration with Johanniter-Unfallhilfe, which ensures smooth operations in the target countries, including Albania, Bosnia, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine, to name just a few.
Aid packages for people in need
The “Christmas Trucker” campaign has established itself over the years and is already celebrating over 30 years of joint commitment to disadvantaged children and families. This year, too, the aim is to put together at least 75 aid packages, which include, among other things, long-life food and hygiene products. Johanniter make it clear that the campaign not only provides material support, but also brings hope and joy to people's hearts.
The packing lists for the Christmas trucker packages are varied and include things that people in need particularly need. These include, among others:

Sponsoring an aid package only costs 35 euros, which shows how valuable every contribution is. Many local initiatives and supporters have also taken the project to their hearts. The Rotary Club of Buxtehude, among others, is pleased to be able to take on part of the aid packages, including purchasing, packaging and handing over to Johanniter-Unfallhilfe. District newspaper weekly highlights how important this action is for people in difficult circumstances.
