Sek storms apartment in Hamburg: drug discovery causes excitement!
On July 18, 2025, an important police operation was carried out in Hamburg, which took place in City North, not far from the police headquarters. The special operating command (SEK) stormed an apartment due to indications of drug possession and a possible firearm. The officers temporarily arrested a 22-year-old man on site. In addition to more than 100 grams of cocaine, the value of which is several thousand euros, the police also found a firearm, which, however, was dismantled and was therefore not ready for use at the time of access. During the mission it was heard how the SEK officials shouted "police", followed by dense phases of rest.
But what about this drug discovery? In order to understand the larger picture, you have to look at the connection to further events in the region. Recently, on June 19, 2025, the SEK carried out a large -scale raid in Winsen (Luhe). Here a suspected large smuggling of cocaine was prevented over the port of Hamburg. Incredible 3.6 tons of coke, hidden between bananas in a cooling container, should be imported. The container came from Great Britain and was secured in Southampton. Six suspects were arrested in conjunction with this smuggling, with a 53-year-old man was even put in his apartment. Target = "_ blank"> t-online has put together the details of this raid well.
drug crime in Hamburg and all of Germany
The drug problem is not only locally, but also has Germany -wide dimensions. According to current statistics, there were around 347,000 drug crime cases recorded in Germany in 2023. An increase of 2 percent compared to the previous year shows how serious the problem is still. The high proportion of cannabis cases is particularly striking, which, although partly legalized, still constitutes over 90 percent of all registered drug offenses. Around 55,500 drug trade offenses were recorded, the majority of cannabis. Statista illustrates the problem that is reinforced by the smuggling of illegal substances.
The accumulation of such incidents, both in City Nord and in the outskirts of Hamburg, but not only makes the statistics take notice. It is also an alarm signal for society. The number of drug -dead deaths has been increasing for several years, and in 2023 it was around 2,230. Often these drug uses lead to long -term damage to health of their decisions, which can ultimately cost life.
The Hamburg police reacts to this challenge with various initiatives, among other things with the Awareness campaign "Inok", which aims to combat organized crime in the North Sea ports. The newly founded port security center in June 2024 is also to be targeted against criminal structures.
