A festival of maritime colors and activities awaits the people of Hamburg next Saturday, June 14, 2025. The Shipping company MSC invites you to the “MSC Yellow Festival”, which takes place between the Landungsbrücken and the Baumwall. In a colorful supporting program, visitors will have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of shipping and at the same time enjoy the entertainment offerings.
The festival begins at 12:00 p.m. and lasts until 11:00 p.m. Entry is free, which is sure to attract many curious citizens and guests. Radio Hamburg presents the event, moderated by Christian Stübinger, better known as Stübi. The highlight of the festival will be the ceremonial naming of the LNG container ship “MSC Germany”, one of the most sustainable cargo ships. The godmother will be Hamburg's Economics Senator Melanie Leonhard (SPD).

The MSC Yellow Festival not only offers the ship's christening, but also an exciting supporting program. Visitors can experience what everyday life on a container ship looks like in yellow shipping containers. There will also be numerous street artists, musicians and artists who will enrich the festival with their performances. International delicacies can also be enjoyed in the food trucks, and the “MSC Experience World” invites you to experience the shipping experience up close with interactive activities and show acts on land and water.
The musical highlight is a live concert by the talented Hamburg artist Zoe Wees on a floating stage on the Elbe, followed by a spectacular fireworks display at the end of the day. The event promises to be an unforgettable experience for the entire family.
Hamburg's importance in maritime transport
This celebratory event takes place against the backdrop of positive developments in the port of Hamburg. According to the Statistics North A total of 8.8 million containers were handled in 2021, an increase of 2.6 percent compared to the previous year. The amount of goods handled was around 111.2 million tons. Hamburg therefore remains an important hub in international maritime traffic.

In 2021, 7,371 ships called at the Port of Hamburg, including around 3,500 container ships.
