Sacred Heart Church shines: children organize a festive Advent service
On the first Sunday of Advent, December 8, 2025, a magical Advent service took place in the Sacred Heart Church in Leimen. The children of the St. Georg kindergarten and Pastor Henn had prepared a diverse program. Numerous visitors, including parents, grandparents and other relatives, came to experience this special event together. Under the motto “Advent wreath,” the children lit the first candle on the church’s Advent root and blessed the Advent wreaths and branches the families had brought with them.
A full worship hall testified to the great anticipation of the upcoming holidays. Together with their teachers and guests, the children sang the popular song “We say to you the good Advent”. This was not only a musical performance, but also a deeper connection to Advent that touched the hearts of everyone in attendance. The school starters in particular whirled through the service and recited the Kyrie and the intercessions, which brought the community even more together.
Special moments
A highlight was the children's rousing dance to “Open up and become light,” which was rewarded with much applause. During the “Our Father” prayer, the children held hands around the altar, which conveyed a beautiful picture of cohesion and community. At the crowning conclusion, the song “From the beginning to the end” was sung, with the small actors lining up on the steps in front of the altar. Each family received a small branch with a tea light as a loving souvenir of the Advent celebration.
The musical accompaniment was provided by the talented organist Mr. Körner, who perfectly accompanied the festive atmosphere with his sounds. Such services are an integral part of the Advent season and strengthen togetherness in the community.
A look ahead to upcoming church services
At the end of the service, the conductor expresses a heartfelt thank you to the children, who have their tickets stamped in a small ritual. Such loving details show how important it is to the organizers to involve the children in the celebrations.
