New gourmet restaurant Pellicano starts in Hamburg – a pleasure!
The rumor mill is bubbling and Hamburg's catering sector is on the verge of an exciting new beginning. The Tarantella restaurant, until recently a fixture in the Neustadt, is closing its doors. But a new chapter will soon be opened at Stephansplatz 10: On June 18th, the Pellicano restaurant opens its doors with a promising concept and a renowned top chef. T online reports that the Bellezza Group from Munich, known for its Italian restaurants, is acting as the operator.
The location of the Pellicano was not chosen by chance. After a comprehensive renovation, the ambience will offer a mixture of elegance and coziness, similar to the Bellezza Group's existing Munich restaurants, which include the popular restaurants Supernova and Martha. Operator Carsten von der Heide announced the end of the Tarantella last year after 18 years. The decision to open a new Italian fine-dining restaurant in Hamburg was probably not just a matter of strategic considerations - the location on Stephansplatz is simply too tempting.
A star in the kitchen
None other than Kai Weigand, a renowned chef, is responsible for the culinary experience at Pellicano. The Hamburg native previously worked at the Nikkei Nine in the Hotel Vier Saisonn for over three years, where he made a name for himself as a creative chef. Weigand has worked with greats like Tim Raue and even won a Michelin star at Gutshaus Stolpe. However, his move to the Bellezza Group back in Hamburg has not yet been officially confirmed. The new chef will be actively supported by Luigi Marzo, a chef from Puglia, who will help shape the culinary concept Hamburg pleasure guide reported.
Although further details on Pellicano's menu are still awaited, Bellezza Group promises that the offering will include Italian highlights with a twist. These developments give local connoisseurs a good gut feeling, as the group has already proven in Munich that it stands for first-class Italian cuisine. The Pellicano will be the Bellezza Group's first restaurant outside of Munich, which increases the anticipation even further.
