Attention train driver! Removal of the route between Erfurt and Leipzig in summer

Neustadt, Deutschland - Deutsche Bahn (DB) will have to block the ICE route between Erfurt and Halle/Leipzig from June 26 to July 12, 2025. The reason for this is upcoming work on the railway bridges near Großmölsen Ollendorf and Hardisleben-Buttstädt. The camps of the bridges that currently contain elastomer camps are exchanged for new kalotic warehouses, which promise a lower maintenance effort. The route is finally made fit for the future challenges of rail transport, with ICE test trips with Siemens Mobility being carried out during the closure. The aim of these test drives is to gain valuable findings for the renovation of quick driving routes and the technical development of high -speed trains. In this work, however, it should be noted that changes in the arrival and departure times for trains between Munich and Leipzig will occur, which can be a challenge, especially for commuters and travelers.

The changes are particularly affected by the changes: Passengers have to adjust to diversions between Erfurt and Leipzig, and some holds will be eliminated. For example, travel times between Leipzig and Munich extends by up to 60 minutes and between Leipzig and Erfurt by around 20 minutes. The most important connections affected by the construction work include the ICE Frankfurt-Berlin and the IC connections Nuremberg-Leipzig and Karlsruhe-Stuttgart-Nuremberg.

Construction work on the important route Hamburg - Berlin

While the focus is on work in Central Germany, the strongly frequented train connection between Hamburg and Berlin is not spared. This 278 -kilometer route is released by the DB together with the covenant from August 2025 to April 2026. Around 110 long -distance trains, 270 regional transport trains and 90 freight trains are used every day - a total of 470 trains. The route is heavily contaminated and suffer from wear and tear, which is reinforced by high speeds of up to 230 km/h.

In the framework of the general renovation, not only more than 180 kilometers of tracks and around 200 course are renewed, but also comprehensive work on lead and security technology as well as 28 traffic stations. The aim of the renovation is to improve accessibility and quality of stay. In order to ensure long -term stability and flexibility in the company, six additional transfer positions are built. In addition, there is the introduction of a new mobility system based on 5G to improve the reception of the cell phone network along the route. This is how the infrastructure is made fit for the future, while existing noise barriers in Wohltorf/Aumühle are being renovated.

maintenance at a glance

In order to meet such large projects, the DB is obliged to submit an infrastructure state and development report (IZB) annually. This report, based on the performance and financing agreement (LufV), shows the condition of the railways and documented necessary investments and maintenance measures. The DB must prove that the railways are preserved and improved in high quality. The IZB gives a comprehensive overview of the planning and progress in the rail network, whereby the Federal Railway Agency also plays a test.

These measures are not only an answer to the increasing number of passenger volume, but also a step in the right direction with regard to the compatibility of mobility and environmental protection. In times when sustainable solutions are required, these construction projects show that the DB goes to the matter with a good feeling for the needs of travelers.
