60 years of love for Brenden: couple Adam celebrates Thanksgiving!
Last weekend a very special harvest festival took place in Brenden, which not only celebrated thanks for the bountiful harvest, but also honored the loyal visitors from Hamburg, Brigitte and Klaus Adam. The couple have been visiting Brenden regularly since 1980 and have developed deep ties to the region over the years.
Why do the Adams love Brenden so much? One of the key events was certainly her first stay at the Hirschen inn with the Isele family in July 1980, after a disappointing vacation in the Bavarian Forest. The pair quickly became enthusiastic about the fascinating landscape and the wealth of hiking and excursion opportunities and have been coming back ever since. After 24 years at Gasthaus Hirschen, they have been staying in Ursula and Ottmar Isele's holiday apartment since 2004 and have also developed the habit of traveling in an environmentally friendly way by train.
Brenden – A second home
Brenden has established itself as a second home for the Adamses. With the establishment of numerous friendships and the deep connection to the region, for example through their license plate HH-WT, they come here not only for tourist reasons. Weekly markets, festivals and the natural beauty of the Black Forest invite you to return every year. The 1980s were particularly booming for tourism in the Black Forest, and the Adamses still have fond memories of the weekly guest evenings in the village hall.
“What is really remarkable is how many people from Brenden we were able to welcome in Hamburg and how we showed them our port city,” reports Brigitte Adam. Since her first visit, she has recorded her experiences in a diary, which now contains 22 volumes. One of the most beautiful experiences was the trip to the Czech Republic with the Original Brendener Bergbueben and the music group Vesela Sedma - a highlight in a busy schedule.
A celebration of tradition
Brenden is also known for its autumn and slaughter festival, which is characterized by food, music and cheerful conviviality. These festivals are regular fixtures in the Adams' schedule, and this year they returned in time to indulge in the tradition.
Brigitte and Klaus Adams attach particular importance to the nature that they can experience in Brenden. When the weather is clear, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Alpine chain from almost anywhere in the region, making Brenden a popular destination for nature lovers and hikers. This also includes the Rappenfelsensteig gourmet trail, which is one of the highlights of the place and attracts many outdoor fans.
The history of Brenden goes back to 1295, when it was mentioned in documents as the bailiwick of the Barons of Krenkingen. This deeply rooted tradition and the friendly atmosphere mean that even after more than 40 years, Brigitte and Klaus Adam can still regularly travel to the heart of the Black Forest and collect many wonderful memories there.
As the Schwarzwald Tourismus website describes, the place is attractive for skiers and toboggan fans not only in summer but also in winter, which once again underlines the variety of seasons. So Brenden remains a long-running hit for the Adamses and many others.
In any case, the long-standing commitment and love for Brenden is a beautiful sign of the deep connection to nature and the people of this unique place.
