City bike Neuwiedenthal reopened: Cycling in Hamburg is booming!

A pleasant day for all cycling lovers: inside in Hamburg: The Neuwiedenthal city bike station has reopened after several months of renovation. This return is not only a sign of normality after the construction work, but also shows the continuous engagement of the bicycle loan system for mobility in the south of Hamburg, such as Süderelbe24 reported.

In 2024, city bike Hamburg recorded an impressive number of 1,656,782 trips. This use is particularly gratifying because the modernization of the bicycle fleet led to a significant increase in user friendliness last year. Above all, the new locking technology and technical improvements on the bikes were well received by the users. In fact, the use in the two quarters after the conversion rose by an average of 25 % compared to the previous year.

expansion and planning

The positive development does not stop: another expansion project is already being planned. The Rehrstieg/Hausbrucher Straße station for mid -July is completely modernized in order to do justice to the needs of Hamburg cyclists: even better. This farsighted planning underlines the current trend of increasing bike use in the city.

For everyone who wants to use the advantages of Stadrad, the return of the city bikes at each station can be returned without any problems. However, an exception applies to the transported cargo bikes: they must be brought back to their home port. In Hamburg there are also 48 electrically supported cargo bikes available, which can load up to 60 kilograms and represent a practical option, especially for families.

attractive conditions for all

Another plus for the users: inside is the first half hour that is available free of charge. According to this, the use costs only 10 cents per minute in the normal tariff from the 31st minute, while the owner: inside of HVV subscriptions and BahnCard-Kund: only pay 8 cents per minute inside. This not only makes borrowing wheels attractive, but also efficient for the wallet. Registration takes place easily via the Stadtrad Hamburg app or the website by either scanning the QR code or entering the biking number.
