Celle, Deutschland - A special musical evening of a special kind is on July 2 on the program of the knight's hall in Celler Castle. From 7:00 p.m. the Hamburger Ratsmusik into the musical world of Caroline Mathilde. Under the title "Residence sounds - music from Caroline Mathildes Zeit", a varied program is offered that deals with works of the 18th century. In collaboration with soprano Isabel Schicketanz, a variety of compositions are presented that Caroline Mathilde would certainly have pleased.

Caroline Mathilde, the Queen of Denmark and a passionate music lover, always had an open ear for the sounds of her time. She played harpsichord, liked to sang and was very versatile in her musical preferences. Her musical heritage proves her preference for works by composers such as Georg Philipp Telemann, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Nikolaus Adam Strungk, who are considered "pre -classics". Even her collection of grades speaks for an openness to the music of her era, which was primarily about the expression of emotions.

The evening not only offers the opportunity to make the music of composers such as Telemann and C.P.E. To enjoy Bach, but also to experience some historical instruments such as Viola da Gamba and theorbe up close. Hamburg council music has been a fixture in the historically informed performance practice for over 30 years and is supported by the impressive voice of Isabel Schicketanz, which is known as a leading soprano for the period from 16 to 18th century.

A special highlight of the evening will be the performance of an aria from a cantata that Filippo Finazzi composed on the occasion of Caroline Mathilde's birthday in 1767. Telemann, the music director in Hamburg and representative of early education, is often associated with events in Altona and Denmark. It can be assumed that his works also sounded in Caroline Mathilde's salons.
