Raids in Hamburg: Drugs and illegal gambling discovered!

On Friday evening, June 21, 2025, the Hamburg police carried out several raids in the districts of Jenfeld and Finkenwerder. The focus was on suspicion of illegal gambling and drug possession. In these missions, several bars, including Shisha bars and a cultural association, were examined and the authorities were on site in large numbers. The mission ended around 9:40 p.m.

In Jenfeld, the police were able to make amazing finds: Manipulated gaming machines were ensured, as were around 500 grams of marijuana, which were hidden in a back room. In addition, alcohol was served without the necessary approval, which violates the Restaurant Act. These findings show that an entire network of illegal activities has apparently been carried out here, which now has to be stopped, such as T-Online reported.

The police were also active in Finkenwerder and controlled seven different locations. The missions there led to the confiscation of illegal slot machines, cash as well as various technical devices and documents that could be important for the investigation, such as holds. The pressure on such criminal structures will continue to rise to free the city from illegal businesses.

The current raids are part of a wider strategy of the Hamburg authorities who are devoting themselves to combating organized crime. Similar missions in which illegal gaming machines have been confiscated takes place elsewhere in Germany, for example in Berlin. A large network was uncovered here that generates an estimated illegal income of up to five million euros, whereas the authority wants to suffocate such structures in the germ through coordinated measures.

The Hamburg police not only set a sign with these measures, but also made it clear that illegal gambling and possession of drugs are not tolerated in the city. The recent raids could thus be the first step towards a more comprehensive combating of such offenses in order to ensure a safe environment for all citizens: inside.

The cooperation between the police and regulatory offices already shows fruit, and it remains to be seen which further steps will follow to free the city from illegal activities and to strengthen public order.
