Jungfernstieg shines: New play area for Hamburg's city life!
A new place of encounter and game has been opened today on Jungfernstieg in Hamburg. The redesign of this popular area cost a total of 13 million euros and should not only address adults, but also children and the elderly. Traffic senator Anjes Tjarks described the new area as a "place of well -being", which is intended to contribute to a higher quality of stay in the city center. In addition to playing the opportunity, visitors can expect atmospheric refresher through sustainable elements.
The Nebelfeld on Jungfernstieg today is an impressive Feature of the redesign. On an area of around 7.5 to 8.1 meters, it offers 30 fog juts that work in six groups and generate changing fog sequences. The sensors adapts the operation to the weather conditions so that the fog jostles automatically switch off when it gets too hot or rainy. Daily from 10:00 a.m. to dusk, the system ensures a refreshing experience from May to October.
fun for all age groups
The redesign also includes five small trampolines that were specially designed for active fun and meet the safety standards according to DIN EN 1176. These trampolines are designed in such a way that they can also be used by adults, which promotes the interactions between the age groups. There is also a "dance bell" that creates sounds and activated by movement. A highlight for younger visitors, which will certainly stimulate the imagination.
Another aspect of redesign is the greening. Over twelve planters with different tree species, including ornamental apples and scarlet fever, ensure a pleasant cityscape and an improvement in air quality. These measures are part of the strategy to make Hamburg's city center more attractive and at the same time use rainwater through an innovative irrigation system in the care of the plant.
sustainability and urban development
The redesign of the Jungfernstieg is not only an answer to the desire for more quality of stay, but is also closely linked to the efforts to develop climate -friendly urban development. According to the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development , the pressure to create climate-friendly living space and infrastructure is increasing. The goals of the Paris climate agreement support such initiatives, which is why resource -saving materials and techniques for future construction projects are also used in Hamburg.
In addition, the city of Hamburg is comprehensively involved in the more protected measures against the effects of climate change in order to counteract urbanization. Here, natural -based solutions play a key role that not only contribute to reducing heat islands, but also increase the quality of life in the city.
At the Jungfernstieg, sustainability, play and relaxation meet in an innovative space that is supposed to serve as a model for other inner cities. The last work on this future -oriented project will be completed by the end of July 2025.
