Outdoor pool season starts: From Thursday the water will be bubbling in Hamburg!

The people of Hamburg can be happy: From Thursday, June 12, 2025, the Bäderland will open all outdoor pools for the summer. Radio Hamburg reports that the Kaifu-Bad in Eimsbüttel and the Stadtparksee natural pool available for bathers. The announced summer outdoor pools in Billstedt, Bondenwald, Finkenwerder, Neugraben and Osdorfer Born will follow promptly during the week. A special highlight: The Marienhöhe outdoor pool opens its doors on Friday, June 13th.

But it's not just the outdoor pool visitors who should be happy. The year-round outdoor pools in Bergedorf, Rahlstedt, Altona (mainland), Holthusenbad and the Parkbad in Volksdorf will also remain open and will offer the opportunity to swim and relax in the coming weeks. However, the indoor swimming pools in Billstedt and Finkenwerder are closing due to the outdoor openings.

Shortage of staff and rest days

However, there is one downside: There will be individual days of rest in the Neugraben and Osdorfer Born summer outdoor pools due to a lack of staff. Nevertheless, the summer season starts under pleasing conditions, including free sunscreen dispensers in five outdoor pools, namely Kaifu-Bad, Billstedt outdoor pool, Bondenwald outdoor pool, Stadtparksee natural pool and Rahlstedt family pool. This is a real plus point for safely enjoying the sun's rays.

There, visitors can expect clear water that is made with iron sulfate and sulfuric acid and is considered particularly positive for the skin. Hamburg with pleasure reports that there are no fish in the clay pond because the water is considered too clean. It offers a nostalgic atmosphere with renovated wooden walkways and a diving board.
