A special place where you can join this trend is the Evangelical City Church of St. Georg in Lünen. From this Friday, December 5th, 2025, a special Advent and Christmas carol singing will be offered here, which will lead to the highlight of the pre-Christmas season with lots of joy and musical accompaniment. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the church opens its doors to everyone who would like to sing together on three dates: December 5th, 12th and 19th, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Under the musical direction of cantor Jutta Timpe, both traditional and new songs are sung, some in polyphonic arrangements. After the singing, there is a small, nice surprise: a door from the Advent calendar is opened every day in the tower room and coffee, tea and cookies are served - an excellent opportunity to enjoy the anticipation of Christmas together in a friendly atmosphere.

Advent anticipation for the whole family

However, the fun doesn't stop there! On the Advent Fridays, which also include November 29th and the following weekends, half-hour get-togethers for Christmas are planned from 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Here, visitors big and small can look forward to exciting family activities: a nativity scene is set up, stories are heard and people sing together. There will also be punch, mulled wine and of course cookies – a program that will certainly heat up the festive mood.

A special highlight of the Advent season takes place on the 3rd Advent, December 14th, at 5 p.m. Then there is a big open Advent singing with the community choirs on the program. Anyone who likes to lose themselves in their own memories while listening to Christmas music should not miss this event. The crowning conclusion is a winter barbecue in front of the church, which ensures a cozy atmosphere after the singing.
