What a musical evening in Nördlingen: The farewell concert by church music director Udo Knauer promises a festival of sounds that definitely breaks the special framework. On June 16, 2025 at 7 p.m., the trombone choir St. Georg, under the direction of Ute Baierlein, opened with magical wind music. As early as 6:45 p.m., visitors can look forward to a hospitality under the gallery, organized by the hardworking members of the canteiche.

and the stars of the evening? At 7:50 p.m., the children's cantore makes hearts beat faster with their “top Seven” favorite songs. Among them are real bangs such as the "Seeplang song", the happy "Dracula rock" and the touching "Help us think like Abraham". A nice transition to the later evening when the Sing@Life-Gospel Choir with a colorful mix of spirituals, gospel, pop ballads and earwigs will take the audience.

a multi -layered program

Another highlight is on the program at 8:50 p.m.: The St. Georg chamber choir inspires the audience with a 20-minute A-cappella program under the motto "From Bach to Bach". Here there will be a neckline made of bachs double-literally motet "Sing the Lord" and the "organ-fugue" of the Swingle Singers. The evening is rounded off by Biebl's "Ave Maria".

After all these sounds, the St. Georg cantore and the Oettinger Bachorchestra continue at 9:20 p.m. They present impressive highlights from Handel's oratorio "Messiah", including the famous "Halleluja". At 9:50 p.m. the chamber choir, the cantore and the orchestra in the symphonic cantata "La Musica" by Gerhard Deutschmann. The musical evening decides on the high altar under the title "Prayer and Blessing Zum Night", with the chamber choir, Deacon Michael Jahnz as liturg and Udo Knauer as a cantor. A touching moment that carries and connects.

But the concert is not the last appearance of Udo Knauer. His farewell service will take place on July 20 at 2 p.m. in St. Georg, another occasion to say thank you and to collect memories.

The musical community of St. Georg has a lot to offer, especially the children's choirs. There is the sparrow choir for the younger ones and the children's edge for the elderly, both of whom are regularly rehearsing and at events in the community. The children's cantore under Knauer's management has already set many highlights in recent years, including a rousing musical that was created during the Corona period.

For all music lovers in the region, this evening is a real must. The website of the church, which regularly informs about events, is also a valuable resource for everyone who is interested in church music.
