The 24th “Gala of Help”, an event dedicated to supporting children with cancer, recently took place at the Lindtner private hotel in Heimfeld. With more than 250 guests, the gala was a complete success. The evening was organized by Anette Kosakowski, the first chairwoman of the association “Help for Children with Cancer Seevetal e.V.” and thereby created an atmosphere of cohesion and charity.
A highlight of the evening were the musical performances. The singer Michael Schulte and entertainer Gregor Hägel not only hit the right note, but also created a heartwarming atmosphere. Emil Kusmirek and Melisa Ortiz-Gomez also put everyone in a great mood with their shows. The crowd was particularly connected by a flash mob in which Kusmirek and Ortiz-Gomez encouraged the ball guests to dance. The event was moderated by Patrick Linke, while Ulla Kock held an exciting raffle at Brink. All artists performed free of charge, which underlined their willingness to support the good cause.
A sign of solidarity
The evening served not only for entertainment, but also to draw attention to the important work of the association. Anette Kosakowski will be awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on November 18th, which reflects recognition of her tireless commitment to the children affected. Since its founding in 1997, the association has collected over 2.4 million euros, which benefits the families of children with cancer. These funds are particularly important for promoting palliative care, art therapy and supporting the Children's Cancer Center Hamburg e.V. support group.
In further news, sick children are also helped at the Helios Klinikum Buch. New Nintendo Switch games have been made available to brighten up your time in the hospital. This initiative is based on a patient's wish list and shows how important it is to fulfill children's little wishes. Willy, a three-year-old patient, dreams of traveling with a train conductor and owning his own train. Such heartfelt desires are at the heart of the work of organizations like Kolibri helps.
The commitment remains
The Kolibri Helps association is committed to making the lives of children in oncology a little more colorful. Playful ideas and new game consoles are intended to make the stay in pediatric oncology more bearable. Long-term patient Aron, who spent over a year there, also had a special wish - a watch with his name on it, which was given to him after his last drip. These stories testify to the strength and perseverance of the little fighters and illustrate how important such events and initiatives are.
Overall, the 24th “Gala of Help” was not only an entertaining evening, but also a strong sign of solidarity with children suffering from cancer. It remains to be hoped that support through donations and possible future campaigns will continue to be provided in this form. Because in the end we all want the same thing: to give our children a shining moment in a challenging period of life.
