Hamburg is facing a hot weekend. Already on Friday temperatures of 22 to 23 degrees are forecast, perfect weather to start the weekend in style. On Saturday it will be really warm, with maximum temperatures of up to 30 degrees. But the real highlight comes on Sunday, when temperatures are expected to rise to up to 35 degrees. Warm air that flows to us from North Africa is responsible for the midsummer heat. Sat1Regional reports that the sky will be largely cloudless and many Hamburg residents will be looking for refreshment on the Alster, be it boating or stand-up paddle boarding.
Although the Alster is a popular place to cool off, authorities warn against swimming in the Alster. There are currently no reports of blue-green algae or germs, but heavy rainy weather could lead to untreated wastewater entering the Alster. In addition, two swimming areas at Eichbaumsee are closed due to blue-green algae, which can form substances that are harmful to health. Children in particular should be careful around the shore and dogs should not drink in or from the water. The exact duration of the closures is currently unclear.

The forecast for Sunday is similar, but clouds are expected to increase throughout the day. The temperatures will quickly reach peak values of 32 to 33 degrees, so the heat load will be high. The first showers and thunderstorms could appear in the evening, while meteorologists expect a cold front from the northwest on Monday, which will then cool things down. For Monday we are expecting changeable weather, sometimes with heavy showers or thunderstorms, and the maximum temperatures will then be a pleasant 21 to 22 degrees.
