Art, creativity and climate: Big festival at the Cruise Center Altona!

In just a few days, Hamburg's art and culture lovers will be facing an exciting event: On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the big festival of creativity will take place in the impressive Cruise Center Altona. Visitors can look forward to numerous creative developments on over 1,500 m² of indoor and outdoor space. The festival offers a platform for more than 100 artists from all over the world who can not only exhibit their works but also sell them. Hamburg scene reports on a diverse program that includes live demonstrations of art creation as well as workshops for children. Gastronomic highlights and surprises round off the offer, and there is an entry ticket to suit every budget: children up to 12 years old can enjoy free entry, while adults can enter for 9 euros. Family tickets are available from just 20 euros, which is a great deal if you're going on a trip with the whole family.

The festival is not only an opportunity to experience art, but also the perfect opportunity for artists to introduce themselves and their work to a wide audience. Arrival made easy: The Cruise Center can be easily reached by public transport, for example from Altona train station with bus line 111 or with the S-Bahn via the Landungsbrücken. Parking spaces are available directly in front of the door for a fee. Further information about the event and registration for artists can be found on the website hamburg-sicht-kunst.de.

Sustainability in focus

However, Hamburg is not only artistic, but also environmentally conscious. As part of the newly launched ClimateArtFest Art also becomes a stage for important social issues. This international arts festival aims to spread knowledge and promote discussion about environmental damage and climate change. The platform is multi-layered and open to all forms of art, from images and film to music and performances. Here, Hamburg artists can get actively involved and submit their works. The festival is intended to establish Hamburg as a central location for artistic debates on climate change.

A home for the performances and discussions will be created in the historic harbor barge Arca Futuris in Hamburg's HafenCity. Temporary stages and workshop spaces invite the population to interact while promoting strong and courageous art that questions social and political conventions. A long-term goal is to establish ClimateArtFest as a biennial for climate art every two years.

Initiatives for climate-neutral projects

Even more is happening in the art scene: The Federal Cultural Foundation has launched the “Zero” program, a nationwide sustainability initiative that supports art and cultural institutions in aligning their actions with ecological goals. Three modules – Fund Zero, Academy Zero and Network Zero – provide not only financial but also structural support. A total of 8 million euros will be available for this purpose by 2027.

The program has already aroused great interest and promotes artistically innovative projects that deal with climate-neutral forms of production. A strong network should be formed to promote knowledge transfer and connect local actors with one another. The initiative underlines the responsibility of the cultural and art scene to actively contribute to solving the challenges of climate and environmental protection - a future-oriented step that the Hamburg art scene is also eagerly pursuing.
