Fairytale diversity: Bilingual theater workshop for all children!
An exciting event is coming up that not only stimulates children's creativity, but also promotes exchange between parents. On November 29, 2025, a bilingual theater workshop will take place in Kampnagel, Winterhude, bringing together deaf, hard of hearing, hearing and CODA children aged 6 to 11. The actor Jan Kress and the theater agent Susanne Tod are in charge. Taubenschlag reports that the children can collect their own ideas for fairy tales and stories in the workshop and try them out in the theater.
This workshop focuses on inclusive communication, which takes place in both German Sign Language (DGS) and German spoken language. Accessibility is a top priority: participants have access to a Phonak hearing system, sign language interpreters and a wheelchair-accessible environment. The best news? Participation is free and there are even snacks and drinks that invite you to take a 90-minute break after an hour of creative work.
Parents in exchange
A special highlight for parents is the exchange about sign language culture and inclusive culture, which will also take place on November 29th at 2:30 p.m. Ines Helke from the self-help group for parents of hearing-impaired children will lead the discussion. This is about important topics such as inclusive cultural offerings and the wishes of children and young people. This exchange provides a valuable opportunity for parents to network and learn from each other.
On the same day, from 5 p.m., the performance of the play “FAIR(Y) TALES” will take place, where the children can present the results of their creative work. Tickets for the performance cost 9 euros or 18 euros, with the costs being covered for members of the children and youth group at BdS e.V. The event is in cooperation with the Association of the Hard of Hearing e.V. and the LAG Children's and Youth Culture / Advice Center Open Up! organized.
Environmental protection on your doorstep
But there is currently a lot to discuss in Hamburg beyond the stage. The Bund for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany draws attention to the pressing problems of the climate crisis, which is already affecting the lives of many people today. The BUND sees consistent climate protection as an important step in overcoming these challenges.
The organization is calling on everyone interested to take part in a voluntary construction of hedgehog houses for hibernation. This could be a fun craft activity for families where the little tenants need leaves and thick bushes or a homemade winter quarters. The BUND offers instructions for this.
Anyone who would like to get involved in environmental protection can also become a member of BUND and receive a calendar for the year 2026 as a thank you. In the monthly podcast series “BUNDfunk”, members can find out more about current topics and practical tips from experts.
Overall, these two events, the theater workshop and the BUND's activities, shed light on the diverse possibilities that life in Hamburg has to offer - be it creative workshops for children or environmentally friendly projects for the whole family.
