Dragqueen Najiba inspires in Hamburg: A festival of diversity and art!

In the Heilandskirche Hamburg-Hillhorst, the Queere Community celebrated a remarkable event: Dragqueen Najiba performed yesterday and caused a lot of enthusiasm with her performance. Pastor Matthias Liberman, who invited Najib Faiza for performance, emphasized the importance of diversity and described Drag as an enrichment for the community. The event not only offered a stage for singing and dance, but also a creative opportunity for make -up for all participants. This underlines how alive and dynamically the queer scene in Hamburg is, a scene that is characterized by cohesion and acceptance according to the study of efficiency institute.

Najiba, known as Najib in the general public, has to tell a moving story. Growing up in a conservative Afghan family in Kandahar, even as a child he felt the urge to express himself with glitter and clothes - a wish that was answered by violence with his parents. At the age of 11, Najib fled from discrimination and violence from Afghanistan, but experienced kidnapping and detention on his way to supposed safe Germany. After all, after a year and a half he ended up in Germany, where he started looking for the recognition of his identity and accepting himself. Najib explained that the support of the queer community and psychotherapeutic help were decisive for his ability to survive.

art and queerness in harmony

A special attraction in this event was the queer exhibition "Unservable" by the Iranian artist Iman Scheiko, which can still be seen in the Heilandskirche until August 8th. Scheiko's works combine traditional Persian aesthetics with queer realities of life and offer visitors: inside a way to deal with this topic. Pastor Liberman alluded to the importance of this art form, which not only invites you to reflect, but also serves as a platform for dialogue and understanding.

Najib, also known for his strong presence on social media with over 140,000 followers on Instagram and over 200,000 on Tikkok, his passion for drag discovered late in his life. He sees Drag as a form of freedom in which he accepts any religion, but does not tolerate homophobia. This message of speech and respect is very important in the queer community, which, according to the efficiency institution, includes around 7.4% of young people from 14 to 25 years. The acceptance and the right to live your own identity are central values here.

a ray of hope in darkness

Najib's path is characterized by double rejection - both in his homeland and in Germany, where it was often confronted with violence and discrimination. But the support from the community gave him a room where he can develop. Najiba also volunteers in a counseling center for queer people and is committed to women's rights in Afghanistan and Iran. His story is not only a testimony of survival, but also a signal for many others who experience similar experiences.

The finissage of the exhibition will take place on August 8th at 7 p.m. in the Heilandskirche, and you can only hope that this event will not only offer a maximum of joy for many guests, but also an impetus to think. The vision of a colorful, solidarity society has become noticeable in the Heilandskirche Hamburg-Hellhorst and can serve as inspiration for many.

Developments within the queer community show that despite all the challenges, progress is also made. The path to social acceptance is still long, but with such events as in the Heilandskirche, a valuable contribution to visibility and self -confidence of queer people is made.
