Renovation of the NDR studio: The red sofa is being auctioned!
The TV landscape in Hamburg is currently being redesigned, because the popular format “DAS!” is currently broadcasting from a small alternative studio. The reason? Extensive renovation work in the main studio, which is scheduled to last until August 18th. The modernization in Hamburg-Lokstedt promises not only fresh design, but also new technology and energy-saving LED lighting. How NDR reports, the team is using the renovation period to bring a breath of fresh air into the show. Moderator Inka Schneider offered the audience a first look at the demolition work, which has significantly changed the usual ambience.
In the alternative studio, the dark background and simple equipment in particular cause mixed reactions from the audience. The background is made of black foil and cannot be changed, which gives the program a rather unusual flair. In addition, in the limited space of the studio there is no room for larger decorative elements or backdrop walls, which challenges the creativity of the production team. However, the iconic Red Sofa remains true to the format and will be part of the new show title "DAS! Red Sofa" in the future.
One sofa, many stories
Another exciting event is coming up for fans of the show: the auction of the famous Red Sofa. After ten years in the studio, the couch, which has seated over 4,000 guests, will go under the hammer. Prominent personalities such as Mario Adorf, Boris Becker and Helene Fischer have already sat on this couch. Already announced by Picture, the auction begins on September 12th and ends on September 23rd at 7:30 p.m. Bids can be submitted via email. The proceeds from the auction will benefit the “Hand in Hand for Northern Germany” relief campaign, a well-deserved commitment!
The winning bidder will not only become the proud owner of the sofa, but will also receive home delivery from one of the presenters. From August 18, the show will have a new look and title, while a new red sofa will replace the old one. A good time to reminisce about old memories and do something good at the same time!
