Carlos Santana inspires Hamburg: A concert full of passion!

On Sunday evening, June 16, 2025, the Barclays Arena in Hamburg became the venue for a rousing concert by Carlos Santana. The 77-year-old music icon was back in Germany for the first time since his performance in 2018 and got the audience dancing with his unique mix of Latin, blues, rock and funk.

The atmosphere in the almost sold-out arena was euphoric, with only a few seats remaining unoccupied. The starting shot was fired at 8 p.m. with the powerful intro “Soul Sacrifice,” which immediately electrified the crowds. Santana, who performed hits spanning over 60 years with his band, emphasized the importance of unity and harmony in his speech.

A musical celebration

The evening's setlist ranged from classics like "Evil Ways" and "Oye Como Va" to hits like "Smooth" and "Maria Maria". The instrumental piece “Samba Pa Ti” also found its place in the program and created special moments. The accompanying musicians impressed at a high level, especially Cindy Blackman's almost six-minute drum solo, which captivated the audience. Santana himself mostly appeared relaxed on a stool, but the energy and passion he radiated was obvious.

After around 100 minutes, Santana ended his set, leaving the enthusiastic audience wanting more music. His performance certainly reminded many of those in attendance why he is considered one of the most influential musicians - a real treat for the ears and heart.

The “Oneness Tour” 2025

The concert in Hamburg was part of Santana's “Oneness Tour,” which took place in Germany in summer 2025. From June 13th to August 9th, the guitarist will perform in Berlin, Rosenheim, Cologne and Hanover, among others. This tour is a tribute to his 60-year career, during which he has sold over 100 million albums and won ten Grammy Awards. Santana, who was born in Autlan de Navarro, Mexico, in 1947, has made music history and skillfully combines different styles such as pop, Latin and jazz.

His debut album “Santana” was released in 1969 and his fame grew rapidly, not least through his appearance at the legendary Woodstock Festival. Of particular note are the awards for the album “Supernatural,” which is the best-selling album by a Latin artist. Santana herself is not only musically active, but is also involved in humanitarian work and conveys important messages of peace and compassion.

In the world of music, Santana remains a force to be reckoned with, able to connect generations and inspire people with his art. Therefore, the audience in Hamburg not only experienced a concert, but also a piece of history.
